My Life Story

A Early Childhood

By Sergey Skudaev

I was born in a small town, called Krasny-Chekoy, in the eastern part of Russia, which is called Zabaikalie. Literally, Zabaikalie means "a land behind Baikal lake." The sun rises there 6 hours earlier than in Moscow. A flight from Moscow takes more than 8 hours and train ride takes the whole week. My mom, Liliya Leonidovna, was born in Zabaikal´e, in the town of Chita, but her mother and her ancestors were from the west. They came to Siberia during the construction of the Siberian railroad. My father Dmitri also was from the west.

My mom told me that we left Krasny-Chekoy, when I was 6 months old and moved to a village that is called Chekechey. All of the names of these places are come, probably, from native people that lived in Siberia.
